|Lumpkin Shell Service Center awarded November Business of the Month|
PERRY - The Business Development Committee of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes Lumpkin Shell Service Center as its Business of the Month for November 2012. This award makes them eligible for the Business of the Year Award. During the ceremony held November 2nd at Lumpkin Shell Service Center, 2012 Chamber Chairman Rob Brooks and Larry Walker also presented Lumpkin Shell Service Center owner Robert Lumpkin with a special recognition award for 50 years in business. In attendance were State Senator Ross Tolleson, Larry and Janice Walker, Councilmen Randall Walker and William Jackson as well as other Perry area business leaders and Perry Chamber President & CEO Stacy Campbell. Celebrating the award with the Lumpkin Shell Service Center and Robert Lumpkin were friends, family, and employees of the business.
Lumpkin Shell is the oldest African-American owned and operated business in Perry. The family of Mr. Robert Lumpkin is holding a 50th Anniversary Celebration for the Lumpkin Shell Service Center Saturday, November 17th at twelve Noon at the Service Center located at 1438 Swift Street in Perry, Ga. During the celebration the family will honor the legacy and contributions of Robert Lumpkin, Jr. and his commitment to small business and the American dream. All family and friends are invited to attend.
